Move over Winnie the Pooh, there’s a new bear in town: Paddington.  On January 16, the beloved bear from the books written by Michael Bond came to life in theaters bringing tons of fury fun for the entire family.  The movie follows a tragedy stricken young bear to as he leaves his home in the forests of darkest Peru and journeys to London in the hopes of finding a family, soon realizing that finding a true home won’t be as easy as he thought.

My favorite part of the movie was in a scene close to the end when Mr. Brown calls Paddington’s name and Paddington says “God, is that you, because you sound an awful lot like Mr. Brown.”  I thought that it was hilarious considering the situation they were currently in.  I also really liked the Browns’ maid, Mrs. Bird.  Mrs. Bird is a fiery old woman who won’t put up with anything.  From being the only person able to set Mr. Brown straight, to out-drinking museum guards, Mrs. Bird is truly hysterical, and she is personally my favorite character.

My least favorite part of the movie was how no one would help Paddington find a home.  That made me feel so sad because he is adorable and so polite to everyone, and while a talking bear in the middle of a London train station is strange, someone could at least take him to the authorities or someone else who could help Paddington find a home.

Full of humor, suspense, the emotional rollercoaster one tends to find in children’s movies, and an amazing cast that includes actors like Peter Capaldi ( also in Doctor Who and  Maleficent) and   Nicole Kidman ( also in Batman Forever and Just Go With It), I truly think that Paddington has been the best film released so far this year.
