“The Last of Us”, the television show adaptation of the legendary game series is the most awarded game ever, winning 600 game of the year awards is back with season two out now.
Yet the show adaptation is controversial due to many reasons. One of the main reasons is the casting of the show. The main actor Bella Ramesy has gotten so much hate as she does not look a lot like the game version of Ellie.
Even after all of this hate Ramsey has not let it affect her that much and still continues playing the character. Though she may not look exactly like the character in-game, she outshines her acting ability. Her acting skills are great and she has been able to star in many of the key moments.
TLOU is on its second season and has already been renewed for season three. The first season was a hit.
Sophomore Evan Knode stated, “I think that the first season was phenomenal as it felt like it was straightly derived from the video game.”
The show writer Craig Mazin has worked alongside Neil Drunkman the game developer to make some unique changes to the story. One being more of a backstory of some characters who did not have one, including a character named Bill.
Sophomore Ryan Johnson stated, “I love how they expanded on his character and his lover, Frank, who we only hear a little about in the game. seeing the two of them try to survive together and live a happy life in the middle of the apocalypse was very heartwarming.”
I would say this show is great. It’s fun to watch especially if you have played the games as you get to see something you have played basically turn into reality. It has been interesting to see some of the changes they made or things they decided not to show.
Sophomore Taelynn McCleary said, “ I haven’t played the games at all but I still really enjoy the show and I think It is great and look forward to each new episode” This shows that you do not need to play the game to enjoy the show. McCleary also stated that “ I like not knowing what is gonna happen next.”
Overall I think you should watch this show and give it a chance as the story has a very in depth meaning and good message behind it. If you do not go in with bias from other people you can truly enjoy this show and it’s full purpose.
