Kempsville High School’s baseball team kicks off the spring season on March 18, 2015 in a game against Ocean Lakes High School. With a scrimmage or two under their helmets the team is “optimistic,” according to Senior Reid Hasher, as they hit in the new season.

Reid Hasher describes the new season as a “learning period.” This season, the team has a new coach: Mr. Sutton, a teacher from First Colonial High School.

The team has been preparing for the season by conditioning with the help of Mr. Hehl. Given the limitations caused by the winter weather, Hasher believes the team did well in their first scrimmage, especially since the team is under a new coach. Though the team did not win the first scrimmage, Hasher says that the team has “pushed each other and gained each other’s confidence.”

According to Nathanial Whitman, a junior, the team hopes to work together better as a team and win the state title this season. Reid Hasher hopes the team will be the “toughest” to play against in the conference.
