“You can’t be afraid to fail. It’s the only way you succeed – you’re not gonna succeed all the time, and I know that,” said 20-time All Star LeBron James.
LeBron has failed many times in his career, but this brings the best out of him. This is one reason why LeBron James is considered the greatest basketball player of all time .
“While he has accomplished a lot, it took lots of hard work all starting in his hometown of Akron, Ohio,” said Bryce Hird, a sports writer from ProSportsFans.com.
In this article, Hird also said, “As he grew up, he focused on the history of the sport. After realizing that former great players must have had idols too, he looked for his own. James’ idols were Michael Jordan, Ken Griffey Jr., and Deion Sanders.”
By having idols at a young age, it let James look up to athletes that he wanted to be like so that he could try to improve athletically in their image.
Some people believe that James is not the greatest of a time (G.O.A.T.) for different reasons. For example, they say Michael Jordan is undefeated in the finals, which makes him better, but the opponents Jordan faced compared to LeBron’s may change your mind.
“LeBron James played in the Finals in 2007 with no other Hall of Fame talent on his team besides himself. In that Finals he faced the San Antonio Spurs who had Hall of Famer Tim Duncan, and future Hall of Famers Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili,” said Jesse Unk, a sports writer from HubPages.com.
James is also considered the greatest of all time because he is at the top of almost every stat in NBA history. This includes offensive achievements like scoring and assists, but also defending stats like steals and blocks.
“You can always count on him for blocking shots, and he would never let the ball get past him,” said Landon Deane, who is also a sports writer.
James is also around his family a lot, and he spends a lot of time with them.
“Not only is he a great player, but a great person too. He is very family-oriented, always sharing his life to social media with his kids and wife,” said Deane.
LeBron James is a role model for many young people today, just like how Jordan, Griffey, and Sanders were during his childhood.
