Kempsville’s girls varsity basketball played the Princess Anne Cavaliers again on February 6, 2019.

The previous game had resulted in Princess Anne walking home with a victory, but with weeks to prepare, Kempsville’s coaching staff had hopes of winning on this one.

Game time hit, the clock set to 32 minutes, and Princess Anne got off to a good start, familiar with their home court. However, this time the Chiefs pulled to close the score gap, ending the first half with Princess Anne, 30, and Kempsville, 20, a definite improvement from the last game.

But as the game drew to a close, the gap widened, landing Kempsville a loss of 42-62. This season they have lost only to Princess Anne, having beat all other teams, which earns them a 16-2 win streak and a spot in the playoffs.

“I love watching them play,” said Rashawn Gibbs, who is a fan of the team. “They never give up, and they always fight; down by 5 or up by 15, they never quit.”
