*Spoiler warning for Spider-Man: Far From Home. No spoilers for No Way Home*
“Spider-Man: No Way Home” is a film that has been talked about non-stop since its release. Ever since the trailer was released in November 2021, fans have been anticipating Spider-Man’s return to the big screen. The movie was recently released in theaters on December 17. This 2021 superhero film is the sequel to “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Spider-Man: Far From Home.”
No Way Home follows Peter Parker after his identity was revealed in “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” the previous film. In Far From Home, Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) is the main antagonist, and after the final battle, which Spider-Man wins, Mysterio ends up recording a video telling the world that Spider-Man’s real identity is Peter Parker.
In the “Spider-Man: Far From Home” trailer we get to see different characters the film will feature, such as Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), who is also known as Doc Ock. Doc Ock is a recurring character from the original Spider-Man films (2002-2007) with Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. In the trailer, Doc Ock reappears similarly to how he does in Spider-Man 2 (2004). In Far From Home a lot of similar references to the previous Spider-Man films happen. One of the reasons fans really enjoy this film is because at certain parts it can definitely feel nostalgic for longtime Spider-Man fans.
One of the main problems individuals have with this film is the fact that people go into it expecting a Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield film. People fail to remember that No Way Home is a Tom Holland Spider-Man film, just with characters from the original Spider-Man films. Personally, I believe if you are a Marvel fan and you don’t go into this movie with the sole purpose of analyzing it, you will enjoy this film. There are many heartwarming and action-packed scenes that make the film extraordinary.
This film is not only extremely emotional at times but also hilarious. From the sincere lessons to the hysterical dialogue, it’s truly a roller coaster of emotions from start to finish in the best way possible.
Some people have even claimed that “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is one of Marvel’s best films yet. For myself, I don’t know if it’s necessarily the best; however, it still gets a 5 out of 5 stars in my book. It’s definitely worth all the hype it’s getting, and I believe if you are considering or on the fence about watching this, you should!
