The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Review

Warning! Spoilers. Not detailed, but still heavily present.
“The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” is a great show that I highly recommend. Although I may not agree with some of the choices that were made in casting and dialect, overall the show was quite entertaining. There were twists and turns that kept the viewers guessing. It also dealt with problems people in today’s society deal with, such as bullying and failing to make the right choices under pressure.
The main character, Sabrina, went through a lot during this show; she had to choose between who she was and who she needed to be. She had to make a decision between what was expected of her and what she wanted to do with her life. She had to keep secrets from those she loved, and no matter how hard she tried to keep her friends out of the drama that she went through, they were sucked into it because she couldn’t hide who she really was anymore. At the end, when her friends found out what she was, they said they’d be there for her no matter what happens, no matter what comes, but she made a choice, and that choice ensured that Sabrina couldn’t be there for them anymore.
I really enjoyed watching the show; it was entertaining and funny. As I said, I don’t agree with the casting of some of the main characters because I’ve read the books and have seen all of the old movies and TV adaptations, and the way Sabrina’s family is described doesn’t do justice to the original Archie Comics. The personalities of her aunts Hilda and Zelda are have been completely switched, only one out of the four of her cousins is mentioned and even then the personality of her cousin Ambrose is changed and his situation been altered.
Warning, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina also has some words, phrases and situations that are quite controversial, such as the acceptance of “sins of the flesh” and physical and psychological torture. The show is about witches, people who worship and get their power from Satan, therefore things usually considered wrong are completely normal within the coven in this show.
Nevertheless, if you’re a fan of the supernatural (or if you’re just bored) I recommend going on Netflix and giving The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina a chance, who knows, maybe you’ll like it too!
