Meet our Clinical Assistant: Lance Deaver

Jasmyne Maule, Staff Writer

Lance Deaver is the clinical assistant at Kempsville High School. He previously worked with the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad for six years as an EMT.

Deaver says he ‘’enjoys assisting people medically.’’

Deaver grew up in North Dakota. He attended the University of Arizona to obtain his master’s degree in atmospheric science. He moved to Virginia Beach in 1990. He then worked at a research center for a few years, then
decided he wanted to go into the medical field.

In his free time, he likes to play guitar and go hiking.

He also has two kids that attend Cox High School and is happily married. He enjoys spending time with his family and staying busy. “We usually have a meal together in the evening or go out,’’ Deaver said.

“The craziest thing I had to respond to on the ambulance is a cat scratch,” Deaver said.

Deaver says the most important thing he has learned is to “never stop learning.’’

He believes there is always something to learn from different people. He is constantly soaking in his environment.

Deaver loves being a clinical assistant and enjoys working with kids. He is grateful for the opportunity he has to work here.
